Jona, a suburb of Bibiani in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai of the Western North Region have been hit by an acute water shortage for the past two months.
The situation, many residents say, is affecting their daily activities and are appealing to the authorities to help fix the problem as soon as possible.
According to them, the water has not flown through their taps for some months now, this as a result has enforced them to wake up very early in the morning to go and queue for water. A situation they said has brought a lot of pressure on the few wells in the area.
They added that some of the residents who have wells in their houses sometimes fail to lock their dogs, leaving them to move about the compound to prevent people from fetching water..
“If Bibiani Estate Jona is not part of Ghana, they should tell us, during elections time politicians do come and seek for our votes but look at the way we are suffering, No Water No Vote one” they queried.
The Bibiani Community Water and Sanitation Board Accountant, Mr. Frank Boakye in his response to the situation attributed the problem to the ongoing rehabilitation and road construction works at Bibiani Estate Jopa.
He appealed to the residents to exercise some patient to allowt the company work address the problem.
