Takoradi robbery case: One suspect gunned down after battle with the Police

The Western Regional Police Command through the criminal investigations department and SWAT has gunned down one of the suspects alleged to be part of the robbery attack that resulted in the killing of a man who was with his wife at Amanful in Takoradi on Monday, April 12, 2021.

The suspect who was gunned down has been identified as Shankiki, aged 30, together with his accomplice engaged the police in a shootout at Elmina along the Cape Coast road when the police made an attempt to arrest them.

Speaking to Ghananest.com in an interview, the Western Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku said the two other  suspects managed to escape onboard a blue motorbike with registration number M-20 GW 6060 with the last zero covered with a sticker.

DSP Adiku indicated that the police after the escape of the culprits later located the hide out of the suspects and a search was conducted.

She said one live and spent AK 47 ammunition, a live tortoise and a talisman were retrieved from the hideout.

The Police PRO revealed that another suspect, Inusah Fuseini, aged 25, who was at the hideout was arrested for interrogation.

The body of the deceased suspected robber has been deposited at Police Mortuary for preservation and autopsy while the other suspected robbers are on a manhunt by the Police.

The Western Regional Police PRO assured the public over their commitment to arrest the other culprits on a run for interrogation.
