A suspected armed robber has been beaten to death at Mankessim in the central Region.
The unidentified man was tied to an electoral pole and beaten by some irate residents to death.
Narrating the incident on Atinka FM’s AM Drive, with host Ekourba Gyasi, the Assembly Man for the Mankessim Electoral area, Godwin Kwofie, said he was informed that an unknown armed robber had been beaten to pulp in his constituency.
According to him, he visited the scene and saw dead man tied to an electric pole with electric wires.
He added that his interaction with residents in the area revealed that the some irate youth suspected that the man was an armed robber hence the action.
“ I was informed that a man suspected to be an armed robber has been beaten to death in Mankessim Electoral area and as an assembly member I had to go and have a look at the situation. When I got there, I saw that a man had been tied to an electric pole and beaten to death by some irate youth. The body of the deceased was almost decaying and we had quite a time identifying him. No one seems to know the identity or whereabouts of the man”, he narrated.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the mortuary awaiting autopsy.
