Agent of Sulley Muntari, Sipho Shaven has ruled has confirmed that the Ghana international will play in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) next season but not with Kaizer Chiefs.
Muntari, 36, speaking to Metro FM in South Africa confirmed that he would prefer to play for Kaizer Chiefs next season should e move to South Africa.
But according to Muntari is not part of Chiefs who are restricted by a transfer ban but added that few other local teams have already expressed their interest in signing the former UEFA Champions League winner with Inter Milan.
“There were discussions about many PSL teams but Kaizer Chiefs has never been part of the plan to bring him here because of the transfer ban they are currently faced with,” Shaven tells KickOff.com.
“We have been in contact with a few teams including one team in Gauteng and another one in KwaZulu-Natal that have shown huge interest.
“Unfortunately I can’t reveal their names at the moment. We must understand the business of football and give respect to the clubs we are talking to.”
Shaven also rules out the fear of Muntari demanding a big salary in South Africa following his illustrious career in Europe.
“It’s not about money but his desire to play in the PSL,” the agent insists.
“He has achieved a lot in his football career in Europe and obviously he is not only bringing his talent but also his experience.”
Muntari, who also played for Sunderland and Portsmouth in England and Inter Milan and Udinese in Italy has been without a club after leaving Spanish second division side Albacete last year.
