Some members of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Kwesimintsim Constituency has protested against the decision of the municipal chief executive of Effia-Kwesimintsim (EKMA), Hon. Kojo Acquah for sidelining the member of parliament, Joseph Mensah in the execution of all the government projects after he had lost just ended parliamentary primaries.
They called on the national executives and the government to call the MCE to order because his action poses a threat to the Kwesimintsim seat.
The members are also demanding the disclosure of the person who ordered the MCE from the above to stop engaging the MP after he had lost the primaries.
Speaking to newsmen in an interview yesterday at Kwesimintsim, the group said, the MCE and other officials from the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly including parliamentary candidate of the party held a function to cut the sod for the construction of Storm Drain in the area.
According to them, the processes leading to the construction of the storm drain was initiated by the MP at the floor of parliament before the MCE was informed about the project by the ministry of works and housing.
So, they don’t understand why somebody who has been facilitating the execution of these projects would be denied from taking part when everything is set to start the project.
The protesters were initially protesting at the place where the sod cutting was going to be held but was chased out by some thugs and later pickets around Kwesimintsim Catholic Church to register their displeasure over the issue.
One of the protesters who is also a coordinator of Kwesimintsim Proper Electoral Area, Anthony Gyaaben in an interview registered his displeasure and stated that the attitude of the MCE and some party leadership after the primaries are dividing the party front which going to pose a threat to the chances of the parliamentary candidate.
Another protester, Samuel Eduah on his part said Hon. Joseph Mensah is the incumbent member of parliament for Kwesimintsim and must be involved in all the projects that are being executed in the constituency.
He also accused the parliamentary candidate, Dr. Prince Hamid Armah for being behind what is currently happening in Kwesimintsim.
Mr. John Blay also in an interview demanded the disclosure of the person who ordered from the above not to involve the MP who is still representing the party at the parliamentary from the sod cutting ceremony.
