Police appeals for information to aid them apprehend the perpetrators of Takoradi robbery.

The Public Relations Officer of the Western Regional Police Command, DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku has called on the public to assist the police with information to aid them in their investigation regarding the robbery attack that occurred on Monday, April 12, 2021 in Takoradi.

DSP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku in an interview with Ghananest.com said, the police administration had information at about 14:45 hours, indicating that there had been a shooting incident at Amanful, a suburb of Takoradi.

According to her, the police immediately proceeded to the scene, and we’re told the victims had been taken to the hospital.

She said, the victims were couples who had got to the place to buy some building materials for their building project when the armed men attacked them and demanded the bag which was with the husband when they had packed their car.

She stressed, the husband refused to hand over the bag to the armed men and struggle ensued between them resulting in the shooting on the right chest of the husband with the wife sustaining several injuries .

DPS Adiku indicated that the husband was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital while the wife was admitted.

The deceased who was identified as Charles Kwakye and the wife as Monica Nda are Ghanaian citizens living in Switzerland.

The police PRO said that the couple had come to Ghana two weeks ago for some holidays.

She said the robbers managed to get the bag from the victims after the shooting incident and made away with it.

The bag contained 6,000 CFA, 50 Euros, 80 Switz France and 12,700 cedis.

The body according to her has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary.

She pleaded to the public to remain calm while the police put up security measures in place to ensure the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted.
