President Akufo-Addo has disclosed that a survey conducted by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) on the use of face masks in selected parts of the Greater Accra region has revealed that about 82% of persons monitored possess face masks.
He, however, added that the survey also revealed only 44.3% of persons who have the masks use them correctly.
“I have been encouraged by the results of a recent survey by the Ghana Health Service on the use of face masks at selected locations in Accra in the month of Accra.
It revealed that the overall intention to use face masks at the site surveyed is very high, with 82% of persons surveyed possessing a mask. I believe we can do even better and reach 100%,” he said.
The President made this known during his 15th address to the nation on the measures taken to mitigate the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
President Akufo-Addo said that he was impressed at the results of the survey, however, citizens must consider that wearing masks is now the new normal and is necessary for the effective fight against the virus.
“I urge each and every one of us to wear our masks and so correctly anytime we leave our homes. It is the new normal requirement of our daily existence until the virus disappears,” he added.
