The Chief Executive of the Nzema East Municipal Assembly, Frank Okpenyen, has presented 180 dual desks to some selected schools within the municipality.
The presentation which was funded through the District Education Fund was to improve education standards in the municipality.
At a short ceremony to present the items to the beneficiaries, the MCE said it is the aim of the assembly to provide more school desks to the schools to address the furniture deficit and enhance education in the area.
The beneficiaries include; Gwira Eshiem Primary School, Gwira Assuwuah Primary School, Gwira Banso Primary School, Nsein Primary School, Yediyesele Primary School. Others are Agona Primary School, Ndatiem Primary School, Attakrom Primary School and Akuno/Agyan Primary School.
He reiterated the commitment of the assembly towards prioritizing education within the municipality, especially at the primary level where their foundation begins.
The Municipal Education Director of the Nzema East, Nathaniel Kwofie Effum, who received the items on behalf of the schools commended the MCE and the assembly for the kind gesture.
He said, the furniture has come as a relief to the education directorate.
