Mahama To Win December 2020 Elections. These Are The Five Reasons.

In December 2020, Ghanaian voters are once again going to the polls to elect their next president and members of parliament for the next four years beginning 2021. This will mark the eighth time the people of Ghana will be going to the polls in the fourth republican era.

Basically, the elections is a race between the ruling New Patriotic Party’s Nana Akuffo Addo and the opposition National Democratic Congress’ John Dramani Mahama.

As the people of Ghana are eagerly waiting for this day, we have decided to bring out the various reasons why John Dramani Mahama would emerge the winner in the December presidential polls. As it is well known, opposition parties do not necessarily win elections as it were, but ruling parties rather lose elections to opposition parties by their actions and inactions.

The following are some of the reasons why Nana Akuffo Addo may lose to John Mahama in 2020.

1. Non payment of monies to victims of collapsed financial institutions:

In 2017, the Akuffo Addo government closed down a number of financial institutions. These included banks, savings and Loans companies and other financial institutions. The government promised to pay all outstanding depositors balances to them. But unfortunately, a lot of people are still crying for their monies.

2. Handling of the Menzgold issue:

One other factor that may cost the NPP’s Nana Akuffo Addo the 2020 elections is the collapse of Menzgold. The government found out that the Menzgold company is operating out of their lawful mandate.

Steps were therefore taken to stop the company from collecting people’s savings and other activities that the company was allegedly doing. This move by the government led to the unfortunate collapse of the company. Several people have had their funds locked up in the process.

3. Galamsey issue:

The Akuffo Addo government decided to stop the galamsey menace. This move was widely commended by majority of Ghanaians, including journalists, Civil Society Organisations, chiefs, etc. A galamsey task force called operation vanguard was set up to deal with this issue.

Unfortunately, the whole fight against galamsey seems to be in a state of abyss.

4. Economic management:

One major campaign message of the then opposition NPP was the bad economic management of the Mahama administration. They as a matter of fact criticised the erstwhile NDC administration about the high cost of living, this convinced Ghanaians to vite for them.

But it seems the perceived economic management skills if the NPP is not been felt by the ordinary Ghanaian.

5. Corruption:

The NPP used to criticise the then NDC government of being corrupt and insensitive to the plights of the ordinary Ghanaian. This message was actually well packaged and sold to Ghanaians.

But it seems the NPP is doing the same things they criticised the NDC for.

These factors, among others are the main reasons for which the John Mahama led NDC is likely to lead the ruling Akuffo Addo led NPP in the upcoming 2020 general elections.
