Coronavirus has affected a lot of people all over the world and has also taken the lives of many. This year has been a battleground for everyone as we are tirelessly fighting against a new virus that has come to live among humans. Its first ever case was reported in Wuhan,China. Almost every country has had a share of COVID-19 cases and deaths. A cure or a vaccine has not yet being found all though public health experts, doctors and scientists have been working day and night trying to find a cure.
Ghana is no exception as we have been battling coronavirus since March. The first cases of coronavirus were recorded in March after some people flew into the country from abroad. When the first cases of coronavirus were recorded a partial lockdown which lasted for 3 weeks was imposed on all Ghanaians in the bid to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Many other measures were put in place to curb the spread of the virus. Schools, churches and other places where many people gather at once were closed down.
However as time went on all these restrictions were lifted because the economy was feeling the effect of the COVID-19. Recently last years in universities, secondary schools and junior high schools have been allowed to return to school to complete their terms or semesters. This decision by the government has seen some of the students of some schools like Accra Girls been infected with the virus.
For some weeks now NPP has been in the news because some top officials in NPP have been infected with the virus. Mac Manu the head of NPP’s campaign team has been infected with the virus. Carlos Ahenkorah a member of parliament under the NPP also caused an uproar on social media after he admitted to visiting registration centres after testing positive to the virus. Sir John CEO of the Forestry Commission and also formal general secretary of the NPP also died last week from COVID-19 complications which was very sad.
The Mayor of Takoradi has also died to COVID-19 complications some weeks ago. It has been reported just today that senior minister Osafo Marfo has tested positive to COVID-19. Aplus has asked a very intriguing question on his Facebook page and the reactions are interesting. He posted the news of senior minister having COVID-19 and asked why no NDC top official has contracted COVID-19. Aplus is known to be very controversial and someone who is always on the neck of politicians.
