Chairman Wontumi sued by Ibrahim Mahama for defamation, demands GHS5 million

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been sued by Ibrahim Mahama for defamation and demands GHS5 million.

The suit was based on Chairman Wontumi’s claims on his television station, Wontumi TV, that Ibrahim Mahama makes his wealth from illegal sources and means.

Chairman Wontumi strongly alleged that Ibrahim Mahama made a large chunk of his money from stolen funds made by his brother Former President Mahama while in office.

Wontuni speaking on his television station some days ago said:

“He has bought a car, it is said he has bought a car for Hajia for Real. Then he has bought a house and given it to her in addition, then he has snatched Kenpong’s girl. Because the money that [he has], it was when we just came into power, that his brother went and stole money for him. Do you understand?” he said.

Mr Ibrahim has described the allegations levelled against him as “palpable lies made without justification and is or was actuated by malice, disdain and ill-will.”

He, thus, seeking the unqualified apology from Chairman Wontumi:  “retraction of the said [defamatory] statements within seven days of judgement.”

The editor of the dailymailgh.com has also been sued for publishing the allegations of Chairman Wontuimi on his site.
